§ 01 · How it works

Three short steps.
A complete picture.

01

Your horse’s profile

Age, weight, breed, workload, reproductive status. The information a nutritionist would gather — in three minutes, not three days.

02

What they eat

Search our collated database of 240+ UK feeds, balancers, forages and supplements. Add daily quantities — we handle the unit maths.

03

Your nutrition report

An instant traffic-light breakdown of all 17 nutrients, with targeted recommendations — and a downloadable PDF you can share.

§ 02 · What we built

Hundreds of feeds.
Already in the database.

We’ve collated the published nutritional data behind hundreds of branded feeds, balancers and supplements — so you don’t have to dig through bag labels, datasheets, or chase manufacturers for specs.

Search by brand. Or by bag.

Type what’s in your feed room. We have Dodson & Horrell, Saracen, NAF, TopSpec, Science Supplements and Blue Chip — with their published nutrient profiles analysed and ready to compare across brands.

§ 03 · What’s analysed

Seventeen nutrients.
One quiet picture of health.

Every analysis covers the full NRC 2007 panel — the same framework your vet or nutritionist would work from.

§ 04 · The science

Grounded in the only standard that matters.

EquiBalance uses the National Research Council’s 2007 Nutrient Requirements of Horses— the peer-reviewed reference work relied upon by vets, equine nutritionists, and feed manufacturers worldwide.

NRC 2007Peer-reviewedIndependentVet-friendly
Most horses are fed by habit and by brand loyalty — very few are fed by analysis. That’s the gap EquiBalance is built to close: an independent read on the ration, with no supplement to sell you at the end.

§ 06 · Questions

Fair questions.
Short answers.

Is EquiBalance really free?

The whole thing is free — the analysis, the full 17-nutrient report, and the downloadable PDF. You don’t need an account to run one. Some product suggestions include Amazon affiliate links, which may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and never change what the analysis recommends.

What makes EquiBalance different from the calculators on feed manufacturers’ websites?

Feed-brand calculators are built to sell that brand’s feed. Ours isn’t. We’ve independently collated the nutrient profiles of 240+ feeds, balancers and supplements from across UK brands — so you can compare across brands honestly, not just within one.

Can this replace my vet or nutritionist?

No — and it’s not meant to. EquiBalance is a starting point for an informed conversation. The PDF report is designed to be printed or emailed, and many owners use it as the basis of a consultation.

How accurate are the results?

As accurate as the inputs. Quantities you enter are trusted at face value; nutrient profiles are sourced from manufacturer datasheets and the NRC’s reference tables. For pasture-heavy rations, an actual forage analysis will always be more precise than our UK-average values.

Do you keep my horse’s data?

We store enough to email your report and nothing else. No marketing, no resale. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
